All organisms undergo cellular respiration, which may be aerobic or anaerobic, depending on the organism.

Explanation:

Cellular respiration is essential to all life. It produces ATP, the energy currency of the cell. Cellular respiration can be aerobic or anaerobic. Aerobic respiration produces over 30ATP for each molecule of glucose, and anaerobic respiration produces a net gain of 2ATP.

Obligate anaerobes are strict anaerobes. They cannot survive if oxygen is present. Because of this, they must undergo anaerobic respiration and then fermentation which produces a net gain of 2ATP for each glucose molecule.
