How do you know, if the atom will have an alpha, beta or gamma radioactive decay?

generally alpha decay occur in heavier elements which has protons /neutrons <1
beta decay occur in elements which have ratio of protons and neutrons =or>1
gamma decay occurs from proton transition from higher level to lower level which releases gamma ray(as energy difference is in MeV)
