In a phase equilibrium, a substance in one phase is in equilibrium with the same substance in a different phase.
Examples are
H₂O(s) ⇌ H₂O(l)
Cl₂(g) ⇌ Cl₂(l)
CO₂(s) ⇌ CO₂(g)
