Ammonium sulphate is an Ionic solid, it dissolves in water. When added to water, ammonium sulfate dissociates to release positive ammonium Ions and negative Sulfate Ions.

(NH₄)₂SO₄ (s) + #H_2#O (aq) --------> 2N#H_4^ + (aq) +# S#O_4^(2-)# (aq)

These ions conduct electricity and makes the ammonium sulphate solution good conductor of electricity.
