Oxygen has an electron configuration of #1s^2 2s^2 2p^4#.

Normally we do not use noble gas configuration for the first 18 elements. But, in the case of oxygen the noble gas would be Helium, one row up and over to the noble gas column.

Helium is represented by the #1s^2# portion of the electron configuration. Therefore, the #1s^2# can be replaced by the noble gas [He]. This makes the noble gas configuration for oxygen
[He] 2s^2 2p^4#.

I hope this was helpful.
