It's an ionic compound -

Lithium has a 1+ charge and the Hydoxide ion has a 1- charge - I believe that it would be a salt, much like Sodium Chloride (NaCl)

Ionic compounds such as Lithium Hydroxide dissolve well in water. On the contrary, many covalent molecular compounds don't dissolve in water: probably the best example is Silicon Dioxide, #SiO_4#)
