What periodic table family is hydrogen in?

Some periodic tables list Hydrogen as disconnected element near the top because it is a weird exception, but normally it is placed above the Alkali metals in the first column on the left of periodic table.

Chemically, in terms of valence electrons and reactivity it makes sense to place it in Group 1 because Hydrogen has 1 valence electron and can form a +1 ion (ex. #H^(+)#, #Li^(+)#, #K^(+)#) or behave as though it has an oxidation state of +1 (ex. when forming #HCl_((g))#)
