The domain for #f(x) = 3x - 1# is all real numbers.

The domain of a function is the set of input for a function, here #f(x)#, for which the function has a value. For any real numbers you plug into #x#, the function #f(x)# will produce a value.

Examples:

#f(0) = 3(0) - 1 = 0#
#f(5) = 3(5) - 1 = 14#
#f(71) = 3(71) - 1 = 212#
