Number of moles of solute = mass of solute / molar mass of solute

mass is measured in grams and molar mass is measured in g #mol^-1#

molar mass is defined as the mass of one mole of a substance in grams.

A solution is prepared by dissolving 18 g of Glucose in 100 g of water. Calculate the number of moles of solute Glucose.

Molar mass of Glucose is 180 g#mol^-1#

Mass of Glucose is 18g

number of moles = mass of solute / molar mass of solute

                          = 18g / 180g#mol^-1#

                        = 1/10 mol or 0.1 mol
