In order to find the y-intercept, all you have to do is plug in #x=0#, which is the equation for the y-axis.

The reason for this is that a y-intercept is the y-coordinate of the intersection point between the graph and the y-axis whose equation is x=0. That is why we plug in #x=0#.

#y(0)=(0)^2+4(0)+4=4#

Hence, the y-intercept is #4#.
