Yes, a formal proof of the Uncertainty Principle was given first by Earle Hesse Kennard, a theoretical physicist at Cornell University while he was on a sabbatical leave in Germany in 1926.
The proof applies to all systems involving wave mechanics. Because all particles exhibit some properties of waves (interference) and all waves exhibit properties of particles (momentum), the proof applies to all systems.
