The first periodic table was created in 1869 by Dmitri Mendeleev.
The table is organized into rows and columns because Mendeleev loved solitaire and figured that concept would be an excellent way to organize Earth's elements.
The table is ever-changing as new discoveries are made and was modified many times before it became the table we know today.
