Carbohydrates are a class of molecules which contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in a 1:2:1 ratio.
Examples of carbohydrates include:
Monosaccharides such as glucose:
Disaccharides such as glucose:
Polysaccharides such as starch:
Inorganic substances never contain carbon!
