When should I edit someone else's answer?

1 Answer

You should edit an answer if you are improving the answer but not changing the answerer's main approach.

Great reasons to edit an answer:

  • fixing spelling and grammar
  • adding images and video
  • adding examples
  • fixing inaccuracies
  • clarifying a point
  • adding spaces or formatting for easier reading

Completely erasing someone's answer and answering the question in your own words, from scratch, is generally not a good time to use the edit feature. Instead, simply write your own answer!

Remember, teamwork makes the dream work!
