Some examples of herbivores, or animals that consume plant material, that are likely familiar to you are deer and cows. Others you may not know about are aphids, howler monkeys, giant pandas, manatees, and gopher tortoises. All of these animals feed on plant matter. The gopher tortoise feeds primarily on grass and other low-lying vegetation. Giant pandas, as you probably know, consume bamboo. Manatees consume freshwater and saltwater plants such as grasses and algae and other plants.
