The x-intercept is the value (or values) where the function crosses the X-axis.

On the X-axis, y=0

Therefore the original equation
6x + 2y = 24
becomes
6x +2(0) = 24
rarr 6x = 24
rarr x = 4

The x-intercept of the given function is at (4,0)
