Is it okay to double post?

Here's my take on this...

If your answer will take the same approach, use the same technique, and come to the same result/answer, then I don't think it's appropriate.

There's really no point in having 2 or more identical answers; if your strategy or technique differs from an answer already posted, then by all means, don't hesitate to post.

It's always great to see how different people can use different approaches to come to the same answer.

If you think an answer is either lacking in detail or explanation, or is plain wrong, you can either

  • let the original contributor know about it through a comment;
  • flagg the answer for improvement - more/less explanation, formatting, innacuracy;
  • edit the answer yourself, or, if it's too much trouble to edit, i.e. you'll end up almost rewriting it entirely
  • post a separate answer.

The more answers you write and read on Socratic, the better you'll get at judging such situations.

I don't know if you've read this already, but here are some guidelines to when/what/how answers should be edited
