How do you find the slope of the following line, #x+2y= -2#?

I would rearrange the equation to actually "see" the slope, as:
#2y=-x-2#
#y=-x/2-2/2#
#y=-1/2x-1#
The slope is the numerical coefficient in front of your #x#, i.e., #-1/2#

If you re-write your formula in slope point form:
#y=mx+b#
then the coefficient #m# is the slope.

In this case
#x+2y=-2#
#rarr 2y= -x-2#
#rarr y =( -1/2)x -1#
with a slope of
#(-1/2)#
