During Phase transition.

For example:

At #0^0 C# water is in phase transition state, the Ice at this temperature absorbs heat to change its state to the liquid but the temperature remains the same.

Same applies when water at #100^0 C# converts to steam.

The heat required to change from one state to another is called latent heat.
