Whenever there is a charged particle moving with some speed, there is a magnetic field associated to it, which in turn can cause magnetic forces.

In essence, moving charge particle creates magnetic field around it. The examples of moving charges are: current carrying wires, electron/proton beams etc.

Even the magnetic field of earth is due to the presence of ionized elements in the core of earth, moving in circular motion due to earth's rotation.

For example:
If you place a magnetic compass near a current carrying wire, the needle of the compass deflects in order to orient itself along the magnetic field.
