The sun is the source of all the energy necessary for weather and climate.
Explanation:
Since all the energy necessary for weather and climate comes from the sun it stands to reason that any change in the output of solar energy will directly affect climate.
The energy that the sun emits goes up and down in a cycle. This can be seen by sun spots which are areas on the sun of lower temperature. When the sun is in a low part of it's cycle it gives off less energy and that means less energy reaches the Earth. If less energy is getting to the Earth the temperature of the Earth has to drop. The reverse is true when the Sun is at a high spot in it's cycle.
