The Herpes Simplex Virus.

Explanation:

There is HSV-1 and HSV-2. The virus usually enters the body through an open wound or sore or through mucous membranes (mouth, anus, vagina, etc.) HSV-1 usually causes cold sores around the mouth and HSV-2 causes genital herpes. The virus does not live very long outside of the body so the most common way to contract the virus is to come into direct, intimate contact with someone who has the virus and is having an outbreak.
