The energy of the quasars come from the accretion disk rather than the black hole.

Explanation:

As matter starts to fall into a black hole, due to its angular momentum, it starts to move in an orbit around the black hole. Due to the immense temperature generated there(due to friction) a large amount of energy is produced which is emitted in the form of quasars.
