Add #8x# to both sides:
#=>x^2-8x=8x-8x#
#=>x(x-8)=0# (factrorization)

#x^2# simply means the value x mulitplies itself twice.

Therefore, #x^2# is #x * x#

#(x * x)/x# = #(8x)/x#

Hence, the value of x is 8.
