A lion's life largely depends on producers, as they control its food supply.

Explanation:

Take, for example, the below diagram. It shows a food chain. In it, the grass feeds the rabbit which feeds the lion. It is relatively simple, but effectively communicates that the lion cannot live without the producer (the grass). If the grass dies, the rabbit cannot eat. The rabbit dies, which means the lion cannot eat and dies.

Although the example is specific, it is true in all cases that animals' lives are controlled by producers. If a producer dies the whole food chain will be interrupted.
