Explanation:
Iron constitutes about 30% of the Earth's mass. Spectroscopic analysis of our galaxy has shown that iron is very abundant. When the Earth was in its molten state the iron would tend to sink into the middle. The Earth's inner core is thought to be made of huge iron crystals.
