Explanation:

y - 5 = -1(x + 4) is a linear equation ie. a straight line.

rearranging gives : y - 5 = -x - 4
and so y = -x + 1
by letting x=0 we can find where the line crosses the y-axis
and by letting y = 0 where it crosses the x-axis.

x=0 : y=1 hence crosses y-axis at (0 , 1 )
y=0 : -x + 1 = 0 so x = 1 hence crosses x-axis at (1 ,0)
