In human umbilical cord there are two umbilical arteries and one umbilical vein.

As we can see from the picture, the vein delivers oxygen and nutrients to baby and the two arteries carry the waste and carbon-di-oxide away.

Although in other areas the function of artery and vein is quite the opposite.
