A vast resource (175 billion barrels) of lower quality oil, more correctly called bitumen, found mostly in Alberta, Canada.

Explanation:

This oil is has had much of the lighter hydrocarbons bled off over time so when it is extracted it needs to be upgraded by adding hydrogen. This adds to the cost of production and generates increased greenhouse gases.
