Our digestive system is a whole passage and takes about 3-4 hours for digesting the food eaten.

Bucal Cavity or Mouth

The food we eat goes firstly in the bucal cavity where it is grinded by our teeth which take the help of tongue and saliva to convert it into a thick but more simpler paste which is then passed to our Oesophagus.

Oesophagus or Food pipe

The food pipe has several little villi like structure on its inner area which pushes food towards downwards into the stomach.

Stomach

Our Stomach opens its first or opening sphincter and the food enters through hit and inside the stomach HCL a very strong acid is secreted by the walls of stomach which kills all the bacteria present in the food. Then the second or the ending sphincter opens and the foods moves out from the stomach.

Liver and Pancreas

This is where these 2 organs come into role. The food which is passed out from stomach is acidic in nature which is harmful for the Small Intestine. So Bile a juice prepared by the liver acts and turns the acidic food to alkaline it also turns large fat globules into smaller ones so that they can easily pass through the small intestine. It also prepares base for Pancreatic juices to work.

Here only the digestive Pancreatic juices start working on food with enzymes like Trypsin for Digesting proteins, Lipase for breakdown of Emulsified fat globules.

Now, the digestive enzymes turn the Proteins - Amino Acids, Carbohydrates - Glucose and Fats to Fatty Acid & Glycerol.

Villi

The food is then passed through the Small Intestine and Villi or small finger like projections which are present on the inner surface of Small Intestine absorb nutrients and take them to the places they are required with help of nerves.

Large Intestine and Anus

The food is lastly transported to Large intestine and is passed through it where Water is absorbed from the waste and the rest is discarded out of the body via Anus.
