How does pollution of the oceans affect the world?

By destroying the biodiversity.

Explanation:

Worldwide pollution can change the chemical composition of the ocean. pH in particular.

From what I can gather, there are 2 ways that we can do that.

  1. Direct pollution where we dump chemical wastes into the ocean.
  2. #CO_2# absorption of the ocean.

Cold waters are found to be sensitive to pH change. Acidic waters can affect many species thus compromising natural predator's source of food as well as our own . Coral reefs (usually the ones up north I think) will die off slowly . Coral reefs are essential habitats to many species.
