Also remember than binary fission does not increase genetic diversity. Just like mitosis, it is creating the same exact organism. This process is only carried on if there is a very good environment for the organism to live in. Otherwise, they would first increase their genetic diversity and then use binary fission. This also follows an exponential growth graph.
