When do we use the semicolon in writing subordinating conjunctions?

There are two situations where a semicolon should be used.
1. when two main clauses are used, but not joined by "and" "but" "or" "nor" or "for."
2. when elements of a sentence use comas but need to be seperated.

Explanation:

Example of the first situation:
We didn't stop eating; even we wanted do that.
example of the second situation:
I came to this conclusion last fall after discussions with three kinds of people concerned: foreign dignitaries, college students, and correspondents; the head of Toronto University; and the Muslim students.
