Water does not, in itself, provide energy to the body, but helps in metabolism which is essential for the body to derive energy, function and repair itself.

Explanation:

Water, having no calories, does not provide any energy to the body.

However, both by helping regulate body temperature and by keeping you hydrated, water enables the body to derive energy from ingested nutrients.
