3rd person omniscient

Explanation:

There are 3 different kinds of point of view (pov)

  • 1st
  • 2nd
  • 3rd (limited or omniscient)

First person pov uses words like: I, me, my, we, our

Example:

  • I ate the pie we made together in our house.

Second person pov is the least common, using words like: you, your, you're

It is usually used in giving directions, procedures, or recipes

Example:

  • Add two cups of water after you stir the flour and the sugar.

Third person pov is given from an outsiders perspective looking in, using words such as: he, she, him, her, they

Example:

  • She walked over to the barn.

Third person limited is when the reader knows the thoughts and feeling of only one character, usually the main character

Example:

  • The boy sat in his room, pondering on whether or not he thought the girl liked him. He wanted her to, but it was a far shot.

This is an example of third person limited because the reader knows only the thoughts of the boy.

Third person omniscient is when the reader knows the thoughts and feelings of all the characters. Omniscient literally means all knowing.

Example:

  • The boy sat at home, pondering whether or not he thought the girl liked him. Meanwhile, the girl lay in bed thinking about how much he liked the boy. But she knew he would never like her back, so what was the point.

This is an example of third person omniscient because you know the feelings and thoughts of both characters, not just one.
