How do I know whether I should use the infinitive or conjugated form of a word?

The conjugated form of a word changes with the tense and subject of the word.
Explanation:
If the word is "run".
If the subject is he then you would write he runs. But if the subject is I you would say I run. They would be they run You becomes you run.
Note this is in the present tense.
