Two negatives meet together. If a negative meets with another negative, does it become positive or does it stay negative?

Yeah! Negative (-) and negative (-) becomes (+) so y - (-22) becomes #y + 22#.
So this is your equation now: #y + 22 = 63#
Your main goal is to find out what is #y#.
What number adds with 22 and becomes 63?
Bring 22 to the right hand side of the equal sign and it will become -22.
#y = 63 - 22#
Therefore, #y = 41#
