Depends on what you call simplified!
#3x^2-1+6/(x+2)#

This may not be what they are after!

Explanation:

Looking for #x+2# in #3x^3+6x-x+4#

#(3x^3+6x^2-x-2+6)/(x+2)#

#(3x^3+6x^2+6)/(x+2) -(x+2)/(x+2)#

#(3x^2(x+2))/(x+2)+6/(x+2)-(x+2)/(x+2)#

#3x^2-1+6/(x+2)#

Or you can do long division which is a skill worth honing.
