Base area $=1/2[[(x_1*y_2)+(x_2*y_3)+(x_3*y_1)]-[(y_1*x_2)+(y_2*x_3)+(y_3*x_1)]]$

$=1/2[[(5*7)+(2*4)+(3*1)]-[(1*2)+(7*3)+(4*5)]]$
$=1/2 [(35+8+3)-(2+21+20)]$
$=1/2 (46-43)$
$=3/2 unit^2$
