How would you write Sc 45/21 in an answer on Socratic?

I'm quite new to Socratic and I wasn't sure how to use both subscript and superscript in an answer. Sorry if its been posted in the wrong section.

Here's how you can do that.

Explanation:

The idea here is that you can add subscripts and superscripts by using the syntax

  • without hashtags

"character" _"subscript" ^"superscript"

  • with hasthags

#"character" _"subscript" ^"superscript"#

Keep in mind that the two must be added in this order, i.e. subscript first, superscript second.

So, for example, you can write things like

  • without hashtags

x_1^2 + x_2^2 = "something"

  • with hashtags

#x_1^2 + x_2^2 = "something"#

Another example would be

  • without hashtags

P_(x + y) ^ (a + b)

  • with hashtags

#P_(x + y) ^ (a + b)#

Now, to add subscripts and superscripts before a character, you can use something called a blanck character, which is simply two quote marks one after the other #-># ""

In your example, scandium-45 would be written like this

  • without hashtags

""_21^45"Sc"

  • with hashtags

#""_21^45"Sc" #

So basically you're attaching the subscript and the superscript to the blank character.

Another example would be

  • without hashtags

""_(x + y)^(a + b)P

  • with hashtags

#""_(x + y)^(a + b)P#
