The Conservation of Mass states that chemical equations must be balanced because there must be the same number of atoms on each side of the equation.

Explanation:

In any equation, the number of atoms in the reactants and the products after any reaction must be equal. This is because the law states that matter cannot be created from nothing or destroyed in thin air. They can change form and form new compounds, but new atoms cannot be present or disappear.
