The pituitary gland is a pea size gland at the base of the brain. It is sometimes called the master gland of the body.

The pituitary gland secretes six known hormones, that greatly influence the development and behaviour of the body.
One hormone from the pituitary gland regulates the adrenal gland. The adrenal gland determines how fast or slow the body's metabolism
The pituitary gland also controls the thyroid gland. Also, the pituitary gland secretes the growth hormone.
Then two hormones that are produced by the hypothalamus, then stored in the posterior pituitary gland before reaching the bloodstream.
Anti-Diuretic, which controls water balance and blood pressure.
Oxytocin which is a peptide hormone that plays a huge role in many situations, such as childbirth, social bonding, etc.
