rate of a catalysed reaction does not depend on amount of catalyst present as even a molecule of catalyst can catalyse the whole reaction and does not end because it is not consumed in the reaction and its amount remains constant .
mechanism :
the reactant molecules get attached to surface of the catalyst and break into atoms which then combine again in different manner and leave catalyst surface thus making the surface of catalyst available for more reactant molecules to get attached .
