They are opposites

Explanation:

Sublimation is a phase transition from solid to gas (skipping the liquid).
Deposition is a phase transition from gas to solid (skipping the liquid).

They both skip a phase (liquid), but they refer to physical changes that occur in different directions. E.g. Carbon dioxide at standard pressure exerts both properties:

#CO_2 (g) -> CO_2 (s)# <-- Deposition
