I suppose a really good example is the connection between distance, time and speed

i.e. speed is the 'rate' at which distance is changing with respect to time

using s for distance, v for speed (or velocity) and t for time we can say:

v = ds/dt

Another way of reading it is ''velocity is difference in distance divided by difference in time''
