Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition of the joints caused by breakdown of the cartilage.

Explanation:

I am sure you mean osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis (also called degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease) is a condition that can affect any joint, but most usually the joints of the fingers, base of thumbs and big toes, knees, hips, lower back, and neck.

While normal joints have a layer of cartilage - a smooth, rubbery tissue - coating the end of each bone in the joint, in those suffering from osteoarthritis, the cartilage breaks down, causing pain, swelling, and reduced mobility.

Over time, bits of cartilage and bone can chip away, and the bone ends can even develop growths known as spurs. In the final stages, the cartilage can completely wear away, resulting in bone grinding against bone causing excessive pain and joint damage.
