How do people obtain natural resources such as coal?

Two types of mining is used to get coal.

Explanation:

Open cast mines\
underground mines..In open cast mines the top layer of rocks are removed by earth mooing machines and coal can be collected.
In under ground mines deep cave like structure are made under earth and coal collected.enter image source here
