Explanation:

An atomic spectrum is formed when electromagnetic radiation is emitted or absorbed by an element.

A quantum of energy absorbed or emitted by an element can be deterined by measuring the frequency (or wavelength) or the EM radiation absorbed or emitted.

Thus the whole range of frequencies of the electromagnetic radiation is known as the electromagnetic spectrum.
