Explanation:
During the conduction of nerve impulses there is a need for different ion channels on the neuronal membrane
- there is a time when the nerve is not conducting any impulse
-it is a stage when the membrane of the axon of neuron becomes permeable for K+ions ans impermeable for Na+ ions
-this now makes up a difference in concn. or concn. gradient across the membrane
-and to maintain this particular concn. gradient Na+-K+ pump is used, which enables active transport of the ions.
