Manuel is erroneously used to name Miguel López de Legazpi.
Explanation:
Miguel López de Legazpi (born in 1502) constantly quoted as El Adelantado and El Viejo , was a Basque-Spanish navigator and governor.
He established the first Spanish settlement in the East Indies
He was also the first Governor-General of the Spanish East Indies which included the Philippines and other Pacific archipelagos( Guam and the Marianas Islands).
Miguel, as the majority of Spanish conquistadors, tried over backwards to settle Catholic religion in the dominated areas which generall praised Asian religions.
He eventually passed away in 1572.
